SKYE
Skye is one of the Florida Manta Project’s favorite manta rays. We first found him in the summer of 2020 and have seen him numerous times since. In July 2021, we attached a satellite tag to Skye to track his movements. This data will provide crucial migratory information about Florida manta rays!

Cassiopeia
Cassiopeia got his name because the spot pattern on his belly resembles the constellation. He is one of our friendliest mantas, always swimming over to check us out.

Casper
Casper is a juvenile male manta ray that we first observed in the summer of 2021. He got his name because his belly lacks spots and as white as a ghost! However, he does have a black spot on his mouth that we use to identify him.

Valentina
Valentina is a female manta ray that we first observed in the summer of 2021. Her name comes from the heart shaped spot pattern on her belly.

Nemo
Nemo is a juvenile male manta ray. He was named after Finding Nemo because he has a missing right cephalic fin. We first saw Nemo is September of 2021 and have seen him numerous times in 2021. He has a single small black spot on his belly.

How it works
When you click the “ADOPT NOW” button you’ll be asked to input your details, then in “Additional Information’ you’ll have the opportunity to select which manta you’d like to adopt, along with adoptees name. Within 5 days, you will be contacted by one of our team with a personalized e-certificate of your individual manta ray, plus you’ll receive an email each time they’re seen.

What have we achieved recently?
The Florida Manta Project discovered a potential rare manta ray nursery habitat off the coast of south Florida and documented the numerous anthropogenic threats these rays experience.
In 2020, we began a new project on a large seasonal aggregation of adult manta rays in central Florida.
We published the first study of recreational angler knowledge of and attitudes towards manta ray conservation.

We are a small team of multi-tasking conservationists, scientists, and educators. Your support enables all three activities, and much more.
