Whistleblower Policy of Marine Megafauna Foundation (MMF)
1. Purpose
The Marine Megafauna Foundation requires directors, officers, and staff to observe high standards of professional and personal ethics in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and ethics. This Whistleblower Policy is intended to provide a mechanism for the reporting of illegal activity or unethical conduct without fear of retaliation.
2. Reporting Responsibility
It is the responsibility of all directors, staff, and volunteers to comply with MMF's code of ethics, and to report violations or suspected violations in accordance with this Whistleblower Policy.
3. No Retaliation
No director, staff, or volunteer who in good faith reports a violation shall suffer harassment, retaliation, or adverse employment consequence. Any individual within MMF who retaliates against another individual who has reported a violation in good faith is subject to discipline up to and including termination of employment or volunteer status.
4. Reporting Procedure
The Marine Megafauna Foundation encourages its employees to share their questions, concerns, suggestions, or complaints with their supervisor. If you are not comfortable speaking with your supervisor or you are not satisfied with your supervisor’s response, you are encouraged to speak with the Chief Operations Officer or any member of the Board of Directors.
5. Compliance Officer
Our Chief Operations Officer is responsible for investigating and resolving all reported complaints and allegations concerning violations and, at his/her discretion, shall advise senior staff and/or the Board of Directors.
6. Accounting and Auditing Matters
The Compliance Officer shall immediately notify senior staff or Board Members of any concerns or complaints regarding corporate accounting practices, internal controls or auditing, and work with the relevant officers until the matter is resolved.
