THE WHALE SHARK
BOOK.

Whale Sharks: Biology, Ecology, and Conservation — the first scientific textbook on the species.

Dr. Simon Pierce, MMF Co-Founder and Executive Director, who leads our Global Whale Shark Program, co-edited this first scientific textbook on whale sharks with Dr. Alistair Dove, then of Georgia Aquarium. Published by CRC Press in 2021, it brings together more than 40 contributors, including MMF’s Dr. Chris Rohner and Dr. Clare Prebble. Simon was first author of the chapters on reproduction, growth, and demography and on conservation, and co-authored those on population ecology, global threats, and outstanding research questions. The book is the main source for our Complete Guide to Whale Sharks.

The chapter abstracts below are as published in 2021.
