Anindya Retno Pramesti

Finance and Administration Officer

Overview

Anindya is the Finance and Administration Officer for MMF Indonesia, where she manages the program’s finances and day-to-day administration. That office work supports the team’s field research on manta rays and sea turtles, and Anindya sees good data and financial management as just as important to conservation as the work done in the water.

Education

2024 Bachelor of Marine Science, Oceanography
Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung, Indonesia
Thesis title: Study of Seawater Circulation and Particle Residence Time in Benoa Bay, Bali during the Wet and Dry Season

Biography

Anindya was born and raised in Bandung, a city in the mountains of West Java, far from the ocean. Family trips to Karimun Jawa first drew her to the sea, and her first snorkeling experience stayed with her. Even being caught in the rain on a boat far from shore made her feel at home rather than putting her off. Back in Bandung, she joined NAUTIKA, her university’s diving club, and earned her Open Water certification in 2023. Studying oceanography also gave her hands-on experience in collecting and analyzing data, which sparked her interest in data management in the marine world.

After graduating, she moved to Bali, where her thesis research had taken place, though this time not to do research. She worked as an aquarium diver at Marine Safari Bali, keeping the team’s daily dive and compressor logs and working with other departments on data entry and purchasing. Working between the field and the office taught her a great deal about how an organization runs behind the scenes. She also volunteered with Perempuan Laut Indonesia, where she met many women working in marine science, and that experience confirmed her decision to build a career in marine conservation.

That interest in the bigger picture of conservation brought her to MMF Indonesia, which she joined as a part-time Finance and Administration Officer. She is curious about how marine conservation organizations manage their finances and daily operations, and she most enjoys connecting the fieldwork with the office work that makes it possible.
